Please educate me. I’ve had an interest in them before, but not as much as I do now. History of the knife? Years of production? Is this a good user? Limited edition only, or standard production at some point? I am considering picking one up. I can only find them on the “dock of the bay,” and one limited edition listed on Buck website (if I recall correctly, there used to be two options listed but one sold out). A bit pricey for a standard user, which is why I ask these questions. Thank you in advance. I look forward to reading.

I really, really like that blade shape. I’m a bit weak for clip points. Thanks for the picture

The Buck 923 is the medium skinner. There is also the 925 which is the large skinner and the 921 which is the small skinner. These models were made only in the old custom shop which started out in the 80's.
There has been some done as one of a kinds as well as a few as limited editions after the custom shop closed in the early 90's. These have never been part of their regular production.
They generally bring pretty good money.

These are not mine. The largest is the 925, medium 923, smallest 921.

This is a 923 which was made as a limited edition. 250 made I believe.

Thank you for the info sir. Just what I was looking for. I will have to do some more research and find a good used one to pick up.

If anyone would like to keep this thread going with photos, feel free.

Thanks again

A good used one is going to be almost impossible to find. These usually end up in a collection.

Good luck in your search though.

I’m finding that out very quickly. I’ve seen a couple candidates. What were their original cost?

In 1990 a stag 923 from the custom shop would run you $313.00. Now probably double that for the same knife.
