I just purchased a Buck 970 damascus dagger but will not receive it for several days. I took a chance an ordered the knife, but I am not quite sure if it can actually be used.
I know that it is serialized and intended as a collector's piece, but is it sharp and can it be used? (No sheath presents a problem)
Does anyone know what type of damascus steel was used?

Bimmer,
I just bought one also and was wondering how many layers of steel were used on it.
I have not got it yet, so I don`t know either how sharp can it get, but comming from Buck, its supposed to be "real", not a toy.

Yes, it has a sharp edge and you can use it. I have had one for about a year. I think you will be pleased.:)

Bimmer,

I just got my dagger; it´s beautiful, and it´s sharp.
Actually, I´ve found the perfect use for it. I plan to use it (please don´t give me hell) as an icepick at my "delux" bar when having certain friends over and wanting to lead the conversation towards my little collection (a bottle of very fine Scotch and a Buck Damascus as an icepick!!! Hey, how much more sofisticated do you wanna get?:rolleyes:;):rolleyes:

Super!!!! I just received my Buck damascus dagger. It really is a cool little blade. I am going to get a custom maker to change the handle on mine. I'm thinking about having a G-10 handle with three holes drilled all the way through the tang. That would give the knife a more tactical look.
