The Buck alpha Dorado on Home Depot's web page, and listed as model 5668, but with 420HC steel. Is this correct? On Buck's web pages, this model comes with 154CM steel.

To see the page, go to www.homedepot.com, and search on "buck alpha"

Looks like a great price for this knife, and shipping is currently free!

I posted to the general forum, a request for pics of this knife, compared to others that are similar to it, but didn't get any replies.

Does anybody here, have pics to share, with this knife next to others? Is this knife made entirely in the USA?

Thanks!

...hmmm...That sure looks like the 271 that I bought for my son-in-law...It looks just like the one on Buck's site too...Interesting...

The 270 has 420HC but it also has the charcoal colored handles...
Buck has quite a few different handle materials out currently for this knife, maybe they have the wrong pic?

I will post pictures later, I just received my first one today!!
What would you like to see it compared to? 110?? 119???
Alpha folder? 103 skinner? :D

Yep. They either have the wrong model, and picture listed, or the incorrect steel listed.

I am hoping they are listing the wrong steel.

WH4F: I would love to see pics compared to the knives you've listed, as well as any non-Buck knives you might have, of comparable size. I am wondering how the Alpha Dorado, compares to slightly smaller knives, such as the Kershaw Chive, Spyderco Cricket, or Benchmade Benchmite, or slightly larger knives, such as the Benchmade 555, Spyderco Delica or Almite Walker.

Thank you all very much for your replies.

It seems for $50 dollars, this knife offers a lot of value in a US made, 154CM steel, gentleman's folder. I'm really surprised it hasn't gotten more attention on BladeForums.

Alpha Dorado 271 with alpha hunter 193
Alpha Dorado with alpha folder
Alpha dorado with 119
Alpha dorado with buck Rush 290
Alpha dorado with vanguard 192
Dorado with Buck strider 882 and Tempest
Dorado with crosslock
Dorado with 110
Dorado with 103 Skinner
Dorado with 883 code 3 crosslock

I hope this gives a broad enough spectrum!!!! It is fairly close in size to the 290 Rush. The Dorado is going to be in my EDC rotation. Very nice solid knife. Mine is a 271 also with the 154CM blade. However it came with the cordura sheath not the leather?
Which honestly is better to me, I prefer the nylon sheath! I hope I helped somewhat!

Jim,

Thank you very much for posting these pictures.

The last one with the ruler of course is extremely helpful. I know I can look up the specs, but it's just really nice to see how everything measures up.

I compared it to some of the knives I have, and it's just less then 1/2 an inch smaller then my Benchmade mini grip and Spyderco Delica, and a bit longer then my Spyderco Almite Walker.

The blade length is about the same as the Walker, but the handle is longer.

The Alpha Dorado looks like a very nice knife, and I'll likely order one soon. When I do, I'll be sure to post pics as well, as well as submit a comparison to some of the knives I've mentioned.

Price, use, and spec wise, it seems these are pretty comparable, and worthy competitors.

Thanks again.

Any time! Glad I could help :D I really like it so far! I will start using it soon too!

Alpha dorado with vanguard 192

Now this looks like a great outdoors combo.

Delrio,

Unfortunately, it looks like this is a Home Depot internet item only. The stores don't carry them.

Search for "Buck Alpha" on the home depot web page, and this item will come up.

Bought mine yesterday at Bass Pro for $29.99. I was shopping for someones Christmas gift, and had to have it. They got a flashlight!

I saw the discussion of blade types mine says 270-1. I guess that is 420 stainless? But I carried it around today and I really like the size and the feel.

Mine is called B270-BK-0 on the box. It is 420 steel. See pic below.
