Hi Joe, Chuck,

I have an interesting knife I acquired about 10 years ago, from Atlanta Cutlery I believe. It is a Phrobis III. I have read of your relations with Phrobis back in the 80's but I am not sure whether you were together for this knife.

Maybe if I describe the knife:

OAL - 9 7/8"
Blade - 5 3/8", angled saw tooth design on left side, blood fuller on right
Handle - Composite (black)
Tang Stamp - Pat Pending USA
Marking - Dolphin shaped by PHROBIS
Handle can be removed by unscrewing pommel.
Knife has 3 interchangable finger guards which can be used.
Sheath is aso composite with rotating belt attachment and push type release.

There are a lot of similarities to the M-9. I was wondering if you can provide any information on this knife. I cannot find Phrobis through various internet searches. Perhaps rarity? and value?

Thanks, George

Krizzard,

Thanks a lot....that is the exact knife! I guess it is a bit of an oddity, I haven't seen another until the pics you sent. Still wonderng if Buck was involved at the time......

Mine is also minty....close anyway, still new in the box with papers and extra guards.

George

Count yourself lucky, for now you belong to an exclusive Phrobis MFK Owner's Club ;-)
And thus, you are fully entitled to know more of the blade and its close kin.
Enjoy!

Krizzard, out

That was an exclusive Phrobis product. We ended up with all their stock, and sold it at a deep discount. Nothing on that knife was made by Buck or designed by Buck. I think they were made by Marto out of Spain.
