I feel like a bride AFTER her wedding night..A little nervous at first,but I fell into the swing of things and it was GREAT!!!! I displayed my rare/odd 112's for the first time here at the Gator shoe in Lakeland Florida this weekend.It was the 31st and it sure was a well run event with good crowds and some really fine Florida custom bladesmiths.A lot of cash changed hands but I did not bring home any new 112's.... Randall's was THE star of this show,there was probely more Randall's in the room than anywhere else in the world! I have to say Buck did well too..We signed up 8 new adult members and 2 youth to the BCCI,sold out of all the flashlights,all the little toy 'Buckkies',passed out a BUNCH of frisbies and Im sure made a lot of new freinds...We flew the Buck flag for sure!!!!! Dan gave us a great spot in the room [1/2 of the wall on the left] so people just could NOT miss seeing all the great Bucks we had on display and for sale.. It was the first time the BCCI had a 'offical' presence at this show,and I think we represented Buck well...I must modesty say I had the nicest 112 display at the show..Dave made me 2 new custom cases that were so cool,KathyJo fitted out the inside for me with burgandy micro fiber that really set off all 34 rare/odd 112's I brought,I also displayed a dozen or so odd/rare 112 sheaths that drew allmost as many looks as my 112's! We had a NICE lot of David Yellowhorse fixed and folders out and some really fine albrum etched Bucks too...I was really proud to be there repp'in and rapp'in for the BCCI and Buck...I'll post more details in the morning..I have some bum body parts that require some horizonaly placement now,It was a great show!!!! I encourage all of our Buck bro'es to get out and show'em off! Its fun!

shiff sniff could not be there me self..
i had to call him on the phone to get updates as it happened..

Ed ,Jack snapped a few..I ll ask him to post one.. Im too challanged..

The show started out friday morning really busy..Set up takes a lot of time for everyone!Buck had some serious boardmember horsepower at this show.Frank Meek had 16 solid feet of Bucks for sale includind lot's of rare models like a BG42 112 that really belongs in my display! Saturday was the big day for him,he made quite a few Buck fans really happy. Jack Forsman was next in line, his table was devoted to BCCI swag.Lots of different hats, shirts, flashlights,knives,Bucky toys,frisbies,key rings ect. ect. Signups for membership went really well for a first time attendence.Jack had a smile on most of the weekend,this was a good show for Buck.Mr Wilson was next,He hade a wonderfull display of Albrum etched Bucks that drew a lot of looks.You just dont see so many at one place...I spent a lot of time checkin'em out! Then my table was next,all rare/odd 112's..34 and at least half of them I dought has ever been seen or displayed at all in Lakeland.. Gene Merrit had a killer display of David Yellowhorse folders and fixed blades next in line...AND a table full of all kinds of Bucks for sale.His clear vertical display cases holding the Yellowhorse knives were the best at the show....He had a 'Casper the Friendly Ghost' 532 I thought was the coolest DY i've ever seen..All in all we took up 1/2of the left wall.. By far the biggest space in one theme/company...Ken Burns dropped by on saturday to see how everything was going and snap a few pic's. Most of the BCCI board was there! All we needed was to have Chuck or CJ there to have a real Buck'in good time! Mabe next year...They should send Joe..Get him out of all that snow!!! It all went well..

Sounds like everyone had a great time. Sure would be nice to see all those different displays.

A BG-42 112 :eek::thumbup:

Yep, that's definitely Randall country alright. Gee, I wonder why? (Hint: The show was just down the road from the shop.)

That show sounds like a blast! Thanks for sharing the details, thats the next best thing to actually being there.
Hopefully one of the guys clicking pics can post them here. So thats Randall country? I bet those displays were spectacular!! Somewhere around here I have a photo of Al Buck and Mr. Randall in the Randall shop. Too cool!

I would say the econmey was the main topic chatted about at the smoking/loading dock..The feeling seems to be a lot less money is being spent this year on custom knives as well as regular production blades...One thing I can tell everyone is there was some real dealing going on. Make me a offer was heard more than once! I was talking with a north Florida custom bladesmith who was willing to take 1/3 off his table price..I bet I could have got it for 1/2...Now this was a 'lesser' know maker..Not everyone was willing to make a deal. But there was some real deals to be had at this show if you had the cash. In some ways it bothered me a little,I would like to think our hobby and the industry was stronger.One odd thing tho,I did not see ONE person bring in a knife to the show to sell..There must have been a few but I did not personaly see one.In Alanta in 2007 lots of folks brought in knives to sell or trade...Lots of kids came in on sunday,I was passing out frisbies to most who came by.This event closed at 5;00 each day.I thought on saturday we should have stayed open 2 or 3 hours longer even if it makes for a longer day.But then again this was my first show..All three days the Lakeland center hosted a girls cheerleading contest [possibly over 1,000 kids] some came into the show.4 customs were raffled off and they had a 50-50 jar. the food at the center was reasonable [Starbucks coffe] Disney is just down the road so next year some of ya'll should get out of the snow and catch this event !
