Buck Bantam BHW vs Kershaw Chill?

I love the Chill, so much that I bought another one. Lighter, thinner, and faster than that Buck. Skeletonized liners, less than 1/4" thick G-10 scales. Good knife.

Both are good budget blades. I prefer lock backs to liner locks so the Bantam series is a budget knife favorite for me. (Great camos too). Performance wise, the 420 hc buck uses holds up well and it comes decently sharp. The unconditional warranty is

The large pak lite skinner (fixed blade) is a great knife for the same price as a bantam. If you'd be willing to invest a little more, 20 dollars or so, I'd say go for a buck 102, one of their seemingly indestructible fixed blades.

Had the Chill with thumbstuds, it was a great knife and I still mourn it's loss. I hate to say it but I lost it after owning it for a very short time. Closest knife I have ever owned to that is a Skyline which is easily one of my favorite EDC's.

I almost bought a buck bantam, I hear good things about bucks heat treat on their 420HC but haven't had the pleasure of putting it to the test.

Pick the knife you think you enjoy the most, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either.

Honestly they're cheap enough that you can probably pick up both for about $40...

if you have to pick one...

The chill is more fun since it's a flipper and it doesn't have that cheap feeling that the Buck has. Chill is a liner lock while the Bantam is a lock back. That's really up to preference. I personally think that lock backs are stronger. I'm not sure how much disassembly you'll be doing, but the Buck is pinned so you cannot disassemble it while you can with the Kershaw. The blade steel would be about the same since 420HC is roughly 440A-B range and 8cr13mov is very close to a 440B. If you don't care about the country of origin or lock preference then go with Kershaw. If you would like a very very very affordable USA made knife, then go with Buck. I've owned both, and I've enjoyed them both.
