My model#106 is vintage mid-1970's. What type of steel is in this ax? What is the Rc ? Thanks.

Hello,
The 106 was first introduced in 1965 and was made of 440C. It was changed to 425mod in about 1981. The Rockwell range is 58 to 60 on the C scale.
