Give me a history if you know it, my wifes uncle passed it along and it got stuck on a shelf, only piece he did not give info on. I am currently rearranging to make room for a William Henry Spectrum that has a nasty front lock that caused me a couple stitches. Plus a couple of WH collector knives that my son has given me, he won the WH collector lottery for March and got a really nice knife. I will be demoting the mess kit knife to a drawer. Also need to take some photos of The original Blackie Collins Belt buckle knife and the Gerber imitation of it. Thanks for viewing, stayed tuned for more close ups. Just got a Buck 112 converted to auto, going to put it out also. I intend (some day) to document the history of each of my knives since they came to rest in my collection. I am an old guy and sometimes the honey do list take priority over what I want to do.:D :D

The knife was 1/5 of a mess kit. The top of the mess kit, the bottom of the mess kit and knife, fork and spoon were the parts. The large hole in the handle was to put the knife through the latching piece for washing the mess kit after use. The latching piece was part of the bottom and the knife, fork, spoon and top were treaded on the latching piece and the whole mess was dunked into three trash cans with heaters in them. The first was the dip, then soap then rinse and the whole kit was ready for the next meal. The first knives were a stainless blade with a molded handle that was replaced by a stamped one. Yours looks like the stainless blade with the molded handle. Not sure how far back the kits go but I first saw my first in the early 60's. The spoon was big enough to dig a fox hole.

Thanks, now I have to sell the knife or give it away or collect the other 4/5ths of the kit, I appreciate the information, BTW you have great eyes, the handle is molded aluminum. :D :D
