Hi All,
I'm considering a Custom Shop 110 with black palm handles. But there's very little online and in the Forums here in the way of any photos of black palm 110s. (Buck's CS photo online is not real sharp.) I'm hesitant to order something "exotic" and have it come out kind of blah. Does anyone have this configuration? If so, can you post photos? Also, how durable is black palm, especially if it's crosscut? I imagine Buck's black palm is stabilized so it's probably not a concern. Anyway, thanks for any info you can provide.

Get the buckeye burl, it's fantastic. I'd love to get a 119 with buckeye one of these days.

The 110 I show here is a build out from 2012 (110BO13) using a 2005 blade.
It is not from the current Custom Shop but the only 110 I had to show with Palmwood. I included pictures of the 119 handle as it is a recent Custom Shop acquisition and might be representative of the Palmwood being currently used.

Thanks, DeSotoSky, for posting these photos. I guess it just depends on the piece of black palm used for the handle. But, wow, those red spacers really set off the black palm and the brass. Did Buck do that for you?

Knifewing, I updated with an explanation of the pictures.

Thanks, DeSotoSky, for the extra explanation on your 110. It's really a stunner.

Being that the buckeye burl is not diamond wood does anyone have any experience on how it holds up My first buck knife I ever had a chunk of wood came out and I was so disappointed I never ordered another wood product

I know this is an old post but I'm glad to see it. Its hard to determine what they will look like by the CS photos. Maybe there should be a thread just on handle examples without looking through hundreds and hundreds of posts.

I think that black palm looks pretty good. Not on every knife but I wouldn't mind having one eventually.

Woods in general are very popular knife materials, and are generally durable. Some are better than others and of course sometimes theres an unforeseen weakness in grain or something. I wouldn't say its common.
As far as durability it would depend on what you would expect it to hold up to, but most will mark or dent way before chipping in general.
Buckeye burl is pretty durable, and its been stabalized as well.

I definitely think you should give wood another shot regardless of what knife you decide to get it on.

Most of the wood is stabilized. The ebony is not.
Dymond wood is laminated layers that are stabilized.

Still the 68, helping with some electrical work, hooking up an outlet and switch for a garbage disposal
Is this where you meant to put that??

Well I have a Buck with Black Palm handle, I would have to dig it out. I bought the Black Palm knife from Michael Hoover, who made the knife. He still may have some around. He is very talented. You might have a wood handle in mind, mine is high polished stone.
