Hello,

Wondering if all buck blades are hollow grind? I can't find any details about it on the web page for the different products.

I would really like to try a flat grind on a fixed blade and see if is more durable than my old Buck folder (bought 1995), which I can't really complain about considering the abuse I put it through in my younger years , (can you say pheasant leg bones). You got to love that Buck sharpening service and quality.

Thanks for your help!

originally the 888 Solution was flat ground, if you look around you may be able to find one of them kicking around still

as you said 'old buck folder' which 95 is new for the hunter, any rate no one has an answer yet... maby a dum question or i have not found a lead for more resurch to answer my self...
but i thnk a flat grind would be OK and realy good for a while to resharpen but with a lot of ware it would be a lot of edge to realine and keep flat so lost of work on a wide edge to remove a lot of metal... also heaver in the blade... dave

Most of the primary edges are hollow ground. Some of the champfers (sp) are flat ground. Hollow grinding provides a very sharp edge and the radiused cross section of the knife makes it inherently strong. Strider makes a lot of flat ground fixed blades. www.striderknives.com

ok if you guys are in the answer mode i have a queston on 110 blade grind from the 80-81 years...

on the 3 dot, 440c baldes i note a simi-hollow grind and
on the 4 dot, 425 blades there is a full hollow grind [and i know that they changed again for 2000]....now this being a transation point {and oweing to Buck's perchancement to use up all stock they produce} my questons are =

does the possability exist that some
3 dot blades may have been given a full hollow grind or that some
4 dot knives may have gotten a simi-hollow grind
in either case this would creat a collector verrant point one would like to have to compleat a collection,
AND if it could have happened has any one seen such blades ??? ... or am i off the wall here???
