I recently discovered a local Hardware story famous for having everything you never knew you needed, has Buck knives. Not just a few, A whole long multi shelf glass case full of Buck knives. Some models I have only seen online (only other Buck place is Wal Mart. They only have the 119 and a few others in clamshells).

Heaven, right? Some of these I am sure are a few years old by the looks of them. I would have to check the markings to make sure.

Problem is...all of them are marked at least at full list price. 102 and 105 at prices in the 90 dollar range, etc for the black Phenolic handle.

I would love to buy local, but it is really hard to do this when many an online place (or have delivered to store like Wal Mart) is so much lower in price. I would play more for local, but twice as much?

Nothing y'all can do to help, just sharing.

Be sure to ask if they have any under the counter too..I've dreamed about going into a old backwoods hardware store where he pulls a dusty 110 box from the 60's..

THey have over head too. Plus, I'll bet they're more knowledgeable on Buck products and can order you any model you want and you get to feel it in hand. What's not to enjoy at a store like that. Yes, they don't have the order power that a big box has but you get personal service. DM

A picture of their display knives would be cool.

My local knife shop has a plethora of older Bucks. The owner lets me rummage through his shelves every once in a while. I found a SawBuck new in the box. I gave him a $20 and got enough change back for a #2 and McD's. Most of the popular stuff rotates pretty quick. The 100s, 300s, etc... are all newer makes. He does have some gems though. How many Cuthair 3s were made?

I suggest you go in and show some appreciation for them and make some offers. Frequent the joint. "Are you ready to take my $$ for the ?? yet?"
