Hi Folks,
I am a fan of the Canoe style knife. I am wondering about the Buck Canoe. If it was an American made model, I would not hesitate with it. But since it is Chinese made, I wonder on its quility. Anyone have this model? What are your thoughts on it? I have not found one at a local dealer yet to see one in person.

Thanks,

Bill

I have one of the China slipjoints and the quality is great, IMO. A beautiful knife to look at too. I read somewhere around here that Buck is going to bring production of these back to the US, hopefully this is still in the works.

The Canoe is a little elusive, I have only seen them on Ebay so far.

I have several of the imports in various models, and I find them to be very good knives.

This place is 30 minutes from my house. My sister has been there and she says it is a really neet store and she is not a knife nutt.

I recently bought a stockman and mid size trapper that Buck is having made in China and they are very well made knives. I like Canoes a lot and I will get a Buck Canoe very soon.

I picked up a poly-pearl canoe out of curiosity for the pattern. It came with a matching toothpick.

Good fit and finish. I havn't used it for much yet, but keep it on hand for "dress up carry".

I love the toothpicks but only have the fishing knives - two Kabar's and a Case. I've cleaned a lot of trout with the one Kabar. I practice catch and eat.

I bought a Camillus canoe from what a knife seller at the gun show and he said it was the last one he was able to get.

I have resisted buying these knives even though I too love the canoe pattern because of the "made in China". Who said they were going to bring the production back to the US? I'd love to see that and probably buy one of each if they did.

I read it in this forum a while back. I can't find the thread though...:o

Does anyone have current info on this?

Chuck Buck himself said it while in his office at the 20yr. reunion to us members.
I have purchased the two knife poly pearl set back when Buck offered it in June and gave it for a gift to THE COLONEL. My father-in-law, which he liked.Funny, He likes the Buck knives I give him, his daughter and the grandchildren (girls). But I think he draws the line there. DM

The more I shop around and see the made in China knives, the more it bothers me. I am not saying that they are not good knives. But this is Buck. It is one thing to buy something like a Rough Rider that is made in China, but a Buck? I really like pocket knives and it seems a lot of them are made in China, but I see you can get some on ebay made in USA. I guess that is what I am going to do. I hope they start making them in the US again. Come on Buck, make a US made Canoe. Or better yet a Gunboat. :-)
