buck classic 111

Bill,
I would have to agree with Larry. He would know if anyone. Unless you have one of the rare Brass handled ones?

A friend has one of these, aluminum handled and a little scuffed up, blade is I'd say a little marred as well but still good lock up and no blade play and sharp.
He wondered what the value of that level of condition would warrant, not that he wants to sell it, just wondering.

Thanks,
G2

Based upon your description of the knife, I would estimate $65 perhaps $75 with sheath.
A new, unused 111 in box with sheath should still go for around $125.
Remember, in real estate there are three important factors: 1 location 2 location
3 location

In knives, assuming collectibility, I don't
believe that condition carries quite that much weight, but never underestimate the importance serious collectors assign to condition.

Thanks Larry!

I would only add that the sheaths for this particular model are scarce, we don't have any left laying around. It would certainly help with the value if you had the original sheath in good condition.

Came across a Classic sheath, paperwork and box, no knife. If anybody is interested in it, drop me a note.

Incidentally, the 111 is, in my opinion, close to a perfect knife. As it sits, it offers advantages equal or superior to any other "tactical" knife. Balance is perfect. It's thin and light enough to slip into a pocket. Finally, its more equal blade-to-handle weight ratio allows inertial openings not possible with the 110.

I believe that Buck would do well to re-release the 111. Even better: an aluminum-scaled plain-handled model, identical to the 111 but without engraving, with a pocket clip and thumb stud. Such a knife would be fully the equal of a Sebenza or anything else.

Just something to consider, hey? Oh, and Mr. Houser, thanks for fixing my father's 111. He's overjoyed.

Frank,

Funny thing about the 111, it was discontinued several times before it stayed discontinued! We kept getting large orders for it and had to keep reviving it. Alas, there are no plans in the works to bring it back although you never know.

I am glad to hear that your dad liked his knife, i could tell that he used it a lot so i was happy to put it back in service.

Take care,

If anyone is interested, there is a Model 111 Classic on ebay right now. It was at $75.00 last time I checked. Another 111 sold today for $76.00. Both looked to be in near-mint condition. I had to stop bidding at $75, after buying two knives from PCKS this month :-)

Best regards to all,
Tim
