Yes, I know it is very early but I have been asked by the BCC advisory board to head up a committee charged with planning this event.
What I would like to hear from forumites is a sampling of workshop and seminar ideas which you think would be helpful. Please don't ask for specifics on the plans, we are just getting underway.
Again, if you were going to attend the event at the Buck plant in 2003, what are some topics you would like to have addressed?

Let's start with hands on "Make your own knife" classes?

How about a sharpening class from the experts at Buck?

Perhaps we could get CJ to show some of us his favorite hunting area.

What do you other club members think?

How about a whittling class in the shade of Joe's Avocado Trees?

A Factory tour & Custom Shop tour would make my day. Also to see what the floor in Joe's office looks like.

A show & tell session of older Buck Knives.

Hey Larry,

How about an elk hunt with Chuck?

All kidding aside, how about having Dana Queen show how the knives from PCKS are assembled?

I'll second Alan's suggestion of a sharpening class. Great idea!

Hey Frank,

If you get that whittling class under Joe's trees approved I'll be there. Want to see how my Strider will whittle avocado wood.

Man, avacado looks neat when it's been carved, but it's a bear to work with. But I'm sure Joe won't mind!

I like the make your own knife idea, maybe it could be done if all we had to do is assemble a folder. If we were to do the whole enchilada, we'd probably end up spending a week there! Which won't be much of a problem for me, since I live 10 miles away, but it could get to be kinda expensive for some of you!

Watching the Custom Shop in action would also be nice & probably a bit easier for Buck.
At any rate, I'm looking forward to it and meeting other BCC members.

Lots of great ideas so far, i especially like the idea of an elk hunt!
I'll just ignore the comments in regards to whittlin' avocado trees. And another thing, I don't Have a floor so it would be a waste of time to see what it looks like!

Keep up the good work Larry!

If we go to the factory, how about trying to bring in some of the people who have retired from Buck, as well as the working "old timers" to listen to them reminisce and for a Q&A session? Guys like Dean Hussey have memories stored away that would amaze you. Did you ever notice how you can remember a joke when someone starts telling jokes? The same thing when you get several people talking about how this or that was done umpteen years ago.

Hi Vern, Great idea, done in an informal town meeting format and video taped for posterity and members unable to attend.
Add my welcome to the Fourm
