Just bought compadre camp knife & what a perfect bushcraft knife. The compadre fro has rivaled my Bk 9. And the hatchet , what a wonderful tool. Can't get much better than this. Awsome steel and buck lifetime warranty although I don't think I'll need it they are so durable and USA made!! Can't go wrong. Hats off to Buck for such great quality

I've replaced my small hand axe with the froe for general cleanup duty for brush and fenceline clearing as well as small branch removal on felled trees before bucking. It's much handier and swings well. I noticed that even my wife had picked it up instead of the hand axe when we were clearing a tree a few weeks back. It has found a regular spot being carried with other tools on the Mule. Don't particularly care for the sheath. I purchased the axe but that went into the collection and only cuts air.

Cool. I love it. I'm not crazy bout the sheath either. I think I see a kydex sheath in the future

I was loving my froe until I removed the scales (because one cracked) and realized that the tang has broken at the center bolt hole. I've certainly put it to hard use but I don't think I've abused it. I haven't used it for anything that I hadn't already done with my BK 9 (without causing failure). I'm not here to bash, because I love the way this beast performed. Just wish they hadn't removed so much material in the tang cut outs.

I've been in touch with customer service and they have been great so far.

This is great information and probably EXACTLY what they need to hear about for improving the product, thank you for posting

I'm not bashing either but that 0.077 web could be doubled or tripled without noticeably increasing the weight of the knife.

Do folks from Buck show up here often? I'm new to the Buck world but spend a good bit of time in the Becker subforum. A couple of people from Kabar and Ethan himself are very active on that forum, pretty neat to see. I sent these pictures to the CS rep I've been talking to. I also asked to be put in touch with someone from their design/engineering department. Still waiting to hear back.

Thanks for the kind words.

My thoughts exactly. Even if it was a noticeable weight increase I would prefer that to compromising the strength of a knife designed for hard use.

Sometimes Buck employees post here. It does look like they need to leave more metal around the pins of that model. DM
