Anyone know if Buck ever did any contract work for Cold Steel????

I doubt it, but in a thread in general, it's been suggested.

I think someone with more knowledge on this higher up will have to help you out.
Good question.DM

Camillus made Cold Steels slipjoint line. I seem to remember hearing somewhere that Buck picked up the last few orders of slipjoints. Don't quote me on that though...

I didn't think Buck had ever manufactured knives to be sold under another company's name.

The Buck 300 designs are significantly different from the designs of the Cold Steel slipjoints that Camillus made. It would be immediately obvious if Buck 300's had been relabeled as Cold Steel.

The mention was specifically about some tanto point knives, which makes me doubt that Buck did it even more.

I won't swear they didn't, but I'd be surprised.

I have owned Cold Steel slipjoints from the Country Classic series, and they were the typical Camillus patterns. Never seen one was even remotely like a Buck slipjoint.

ahum...
buck was going to do some OME supply work for cold steel on a tanto blade
this was confirmed to me by CJ and a rep for cold steel

"I" believe a few blades were made ... (and i could be wrong)
i do not know what happened to them or if they were marked
most likely not marked..
the contract did not mature past planing
buck does ome work for other companys
the last knives i seen like this were high dollar knives!
i dont recall that company's name Joe could tell you
buck also made some knives for Kline Tools
yep the electricians knife and i think the hawk bill fixed blade knife
it is my understanding that many early ridged brand knives were made with
unmarked blades from buck esp the 112 size blades

there may be other companies
but seems that i have a old timers condition called CRS

So they never hit the retail market?

not that i kow of i dont know if any got to being full knives even
though i feel if any got in to a full knife it was as proto and some one has it stilll but one could always hope
i dont think there would be any way to tell a buck blade from others

Thanks for the info. Now I know more.

Problem is, I have problems remembering "stuff" too.;)

This was slightly before my time at Buck but we were involved in making various blades for CS. I know there were tanto fixed bladed knives, and palm skinners. I seem to recall that they were not stamped Buck in any way. I dont know how far along the project went before the relationship disolved though. I can not even say if we did a significant run of any of these or there were only samples.

there it is offical data now!
and worth remembering ..
man i jest got to write some of this stuff down some time...
now were is my Crayola?
"dear diry, today Joe said...."
