I have no expeience with either of these brands, I'm lookin' at one their Congress patterns.

Anybody have some imput as to quality?

T. Erdelyi,

I have a Buck Creek Large Diamondback red pickbone stockman and a 4" stag Bulldog stockman.

Both have some fit and finish issues.
The Buck Creek has more: small gaps due to misalignement between the scales end and the bolsters, the color tones of the two scales are different, jigging is somewhat crude. A typical Schrade Old Timer has better fit and finish. Bought it from SMKW as a special discount, so cannot complain too much.

The Bulldog has some not evenly protruding pins, but other than that is a quite nice knife. In the fit and finish department it is comparable or slightly better than an Old Timer.

The Buck Creek is a much stronger knife, stronger than an Old Timer 8OT. It has quite strong backsprings and thicker blades.
The Bulldog is less solid, but is also very slim.

Both have carbon steel blades, but the Buck Creek seems to take a little keener edge.

Others have to comment abot the congress patterns, but if these differences are typical, you might expect the BC to be a somewhat cruder but stronger knife. The Bulldog is more of a show off/light duty knife.

Good luck with your choice.
