Ok, I have an old Buck Crosslock Solitaire 210 or 201 (I've had it forever so I forget the exact model number) which has come due for a good inner and outer cleaning.

Since it's been riding my pocket for at least fifteen years, it's built up a good layer of general grunge inside the body, especially behind the liner lock. Considering it's been an everyday knife which I usually forget to treat I was amazed at how little corrosion (less than 2% by area smudges of surface rust that more or less wipes off) there was at the pivot and inside the scale (where I can't get at it most of the time).

After futzing around with it for a while today, I still can't figure out how to seperate the two formed scales all the way down. They come apart quite happily at the hinge but when you get to the little metal tube that makes up the lower pin/lanyard hole it wouldn't budge with the mild pressure I was prepared to apply.

So I'm hoping some Buck fan knows how to split this puppy in two so I can scrub it out thoroughly, because I'd like to get another fifteen years out of this great blade, which was my first -quality- knife purchase.

On that note, since my jar of ren-wax is three thousand miles away, what anti-corrosion products have other Buck owners found work? I want something that won't mess with the zytel/satin finish of the blade or stain clothing.

Thanks in advance for any help and just ignore the 733tsp3a|< tag, the usual spelling was taken :)
