Buck Crosslock opinions

I saw on sale for 29.99 the Crosslock with the gold colored, titanium infused blade. I was wondering if anyone has ever used this. What do you think. I'm thinking of buying either this one or an OutdoorEdge Magna for 39.99. Thanks.

The CrossLock is very handy in practice, but I found the liner to move all the way to one side soon after getting it, still worked ok but that bugged me and so I sold her off. I had the regular blade and a sheepsfoot serrated on the other side.

As Gary said, they develope plade play in a hurry. They also don't hold an edge very long and are rather bulky, and the clips don't come off. Not for me.

I love my old Crosslock. I've had it for four years, and still carry it when I'm afaid that sheeple will take issue with a scary knife. It has gone with me into court rooms and airport terminals without raising an eyebrow. As for the lock sliding across the tang, mine does the same thing, but has never threatened to collapse. I've had $100 slide locks collapse a few months out of the box and this little workhorse just begs for more. I've also heard very good things about the new coatings they are using. Bottom line-If you don't love it, you're only out $25, and you'll still have pocket change left for another purchase.
Man, I never realized how much I like that knife. Sorry if I went a little over the edge there.

The Crosslocks are ok, (I've got one around here somewhere) but I wouldn't consider using it for anything more than box cutting or the like. I'm sure they're fine, at least as far as 40 dollar knives go.

My dad and I were having a good chuckle over the latest Smokey Mountain Junk Works catalog earlier, and I think I recall seeing the Spyderco Rookies in there for 39.00. In my personal opinion, that'd be a really nice knife for the money.

I'm very happy with my SMKW Rookie ! (except it's serrated)

They have good bargains if you keep your eyes open. Rather than the crosslock, I would go with the Meyerco bolt-action I got there for 15.99.

I posted the almost exact question in the review and testing forums just a week or so ago. My impression was the Buck Crosslock was just so-so when I tried one at a show a few years ago.

My feeling was that CRKT or OE would be a better quality at the same price. I've had a zytel Magna, it was very well built.
