A few days ago my son had his first Pinewood Derby running the General Lee. He didn't get in the top three but he had lots of fun building the car with me, and at the race. He did his best, and I am proud of him for that. I wanted to get him something for the occasion, so I stopped by an old hardware store and found the knife boxes loaded with many new knives from Case, Buck, Schrade(the new style), and lots of Swiss Army knives. There was also a case with some Cub Scout and Boy Scout knives(brands I didn't care for), but they really didn't catch my eye, and all of the sudden I saw a dusty blue box with Buck stamped on it sitting in the display case at the counter. I could barely see it with all of the patches sitting on top of it. I asked about the box, and the lady said "oh that knife has been here a while", and offered it to me for $10.00. It is a NIB Buck Cublite with
"BUCK 414> USA" and the Boy Scout emblem stamped on the blade. It came in the box with the blue Buck nylon sheath, and small letter from Al Buck. This was a bargain in my opinion, and it made my son very happy. I know the knife isn't that old, but what year did they stop making this model? Just a proud dad and thought I would share this with you.
