Buck Custom Shop Bowie ID woes

I've had my fair share of Buck knives but it's not really my realm by any means. I ended up with this knife as a partial in a gun trade and have been completely stumped by it ever since. I even had miss Sheila who does the pricing and appraising for AG Russell's Cutting Edge publication put about two weeks into tracking down its origin and have come up empty. Not sure if you can see from the pic but under the Buck Custom shop shield is the SN 0008. To me that means it's not just a one off special order. Maybe someone with a better understanding of Buck custom shop could clarify. Thanks y'all.

That is a Buck "903 Special Bowie" with a damascus blade made in the old Buck custom shop. These have been made with several variations of handles and some with a coffin style pommel. Not sure how many were made with a damascus blade.

Some of the other Buck guys on the forum may have more information on it.

Nice knife. Let me know if you ever want to sell it.

This is not a difficult knife to ID at all if you ask in the correct place.
It was a standard pattern and offered in a number of variations over
the years. Stag & Damascus makes yours extra special.
In 1986 the 903 Special Bowie listed for $250 with stag handles
and the Damascus blade was a $195 upgrade.
