I got a couple of custom 110's with S30v blades and the Buck custom USA stamp is smaller and light. Actually I have to put on reading glasses to see it. I was wondering if it was because it is S30v and they are using a laser instead of stamping the blade.

Some pic's would help to estimate.

Seems like I read a posting by someone from Buck (Joe maybe?) recently that said that they were not stamping some premium steel on both sides? I don't quite remember, I'll see if I can find it. Maybe one side is etched now.

This just in:
We started lasering the logos on the premium steels because those blades dont like to get stamped on both sides. Sometimes they would crack. They did an unknown quantity with the inverted stamp (laser).
They recently swiched to engraving the Buck and Bos logos, instead of lasering.
Personally I like the stamping the best.....but then again I dont like cracked blades either...I'm funny like that.

PlumberDv, thanks for this info. I also got a couple of recent customs as well and noted the very small light logo engraving. It bothered me somewhat, but your last post clears up why this is so. I to don't like cracked blades:)

Thanks a bunch Dave for looking that up. I appreciate it.

You're welcome. I don't know if that applies to either of your (vba and mater) knives, but I happened to remember this and thought "maybe".
