I got this one today. I'm not a Buck collector, though I do appreciate their quality, and this one was just too pretty to pass up. I'm looking for any information you can provide. Not sure if I will keep it, or put it on Ebay: I suppose it will depend on what I learn here. I looked for a similar one, but didn't find one. It's serial number 3030, but no indication of how many were made. 5000? 10000? More? Less? Is it desirable to collectors, or more of a curiosity. Anything else you can tell me would be helpful. Thanks.

Xeo,

Will give you some feedback till someone comes along with details. That is a nice find, apparently not many are being traded as I have never seen one in my dozen or so years of ebay looking. The box is in excellent shape which is a plus. The round emblem in the knife scale was part of the skin of the Statue of Liberty when it was refurbished with new during Bi-centennial. Maybe someone that collects 500 series will know something about it. Other Buck models featuring the Statue were produced also. Good Luck. 300Bucks

Thanks for the information. I managed to find exactly one like it in a Google search (I'm sure there are more out there that I just haven't found the right words to locate) at a site called moosehunter.com. They have it listed for $650, but it's part of a half-price sale of Bucks, so I guess they only want $325 for it. I strongly suspect that they will have that knife there for a long, long time. They indicate that the wood for the handle is made of wood from the buildings of Ellis Island. Nice thing is they show a pic of part of an original ad for the knives, including the other two examples. I know Ebay will give me a value, but I was at least hoping to learn how many were produced. The ad seems to indicate that each version was serially numbered, but not haw many of each. Thanks once more. :)
