Buck customer service let down

This is regarding the buck hoodlum that's been failing. I heard Karen hood said that they switch from laser to milling the notch because lasering the notch causes failures. So I called buck a few weeks ago and they said that the notches are laser cut and not milled. What?!?!?

So, a rumor you heard disagrees with what a Buck representative told you over the phone. You asked in the right forum for clarification.

But, why portray this as "customer service" or a "let down?" You didn't purchase a knife or have a problem with it, nor did the Buck representative refuse to answer your question. You seem to have a chip on your shoulder for some reason, which is not leaving a good first impression in this forum.

I'm not here to make an impression. Let me clarify myself. There's a YouTube video on Karen hood getting interviewed and she mentioned about the changes. Also I have a hoodlum which I've used mainly light chopping and not batoning since a few has already failed. And imo it was a let down because they didn't know what to answer. They said they'll get back at me and weeks came with no call (happened twice) and when they finally answered my question that it was lasered it means that they are aware of the cause of the problems and didn't do anything to change.

Where's the "Let Down" in Bucks Customer Service? They ansewred your question, though it took some time. Just because you dont care for the ansewer isn't Customer Service problem, its Buck Knives problem. I dont get what your problem is with Customer Service???

I suggest you use your knife and if it fails, you use that excellent warranty Buck is so well known for.

Well, you left out a few important details in your original post, didn't you? When I read posts like that, it sounds like trolling.

So, how did the knife fail, exactly?

The Notch is milled in not lasered. I'll clarify with our customer service.

Well she only said that the notch was lasered in the first 18 that were in R and D ( like 10 times during the video), but I guess you have to actually have to watch the video to understand it. She was going to keep 3 and Pimp out the other 15 with signed pictures.

I'm considering buying a Hoodlum, but I can't seem to get much credible input on them by reading threads here and there. Do they work well, or is this "notch issue" just a made up issue?

Just using some common sense here; the blade is weakened near the center of percussion with a notch. What do you think is going to happen when you push this blade hard?

I got a Hoodlum in a trade, and while I thought the notch was not the best idea , overall it was a good knife. Not my cup of tea though. Get rid of that notch, my only complaint with it.
