Just bought a Bantam BBW to be a gift, and I was inspecting it and noticed there's no marking next to the model number indicating the year it was made. Has Buck stopped using the date codes, did I miss something?

They miss a few......they're just not perfect.

:)

Probably makes it collectible (although not especially valuable to most).

Thats odd. 2008 was a year of missing stamps, but that was primarily on 110's which of course are all USA made. That should be 10, 11 or 12 and should have a stamp. Youre right, your husband wouldnt want it, better send it to me for safe keeping and furhter investigation:p

Mrszoen, Welcome. That can happen as it did in 08 on many models, 110,112, 500, 501, ect.. Without giving a lengthy explaination on how it occurs and yours being from 2011 or 12 and the only one thus far who's posted about the missing year mark. I'd think not many came out that way. Either way you can go ahead and gift it to him or put it aside. Collectors over react to this stuff. Here it is gents. DM

We originally planned on getting the pink camo one, but they were out of stock so we decided to just go with the regular camo... After seeing the missing code, and finding out it doesn't happen that often, I've talked him into letting us keep it and ordering the pink one online to be gifted instead. Being a Buck girl, I just couldn't resist keeping this one for my collection. :) I think the giftee will like the pink one more anyway.

Thanks for the help. :)

I was just browsing the forum and saw another thread "The wifes new Buck... It's pink camo", looked at the picture, and noticed that knife also doesn't have the date code. Maybe this is more common than we think. Something with the Bantam series, perhaps. Hm...
