I have been luking here for a while trying to decide on a fixed blade all around outdoor knife, hunting, hiking, backpacking, woodcraft. I have decided on the Buck Pathfinder #105. I was wondering if I could get a few recomendations on relable dealers to purchase from.

Thanks for the help in advance. I really like this forum and the people on it. You can really leap frog your knife knowledge in a hurry. It's kind of like a knife knowledge implant for the brain! :D

Sorry, I ment to post this on the Buck site.

on our website we do have a dealer locator

I would love to hear how it worked for you.

BigBelly...
Thanks for stalking, ah, lurking :) But even more, thanks for posting (WELCOME) and letting me brag about my 105. I've only had the 105 about a month but I like the form, fit, and function.
I really like the 119 profile, but find the 105 a better knife for EDC in da 'hood. Out in the sticks for camping, it'd be a 119/120 for me (don't have a 124 to judge yet).

Of my two 105 Pathfinders:

One from L L Bean that has a stacked leather handle and terrible etched L L Bean logo on the blade (they show the non-logo side on the site). $80.00

One from Bass Pro with rosewood and brass handle. $60.00 I LOVE IT.

Thanks, for the help, rifon2, The Last Confederate, Esav Benyamin, CJ Buck,
Buckaholic:

I gave Knifeworks.com a try. It is a very professional dealer, fast service. The #105 Pathfinder is already on the way. Good price reg $63.00 for $39.95.

I have a mild case of buck fever, #119, #102, fixed blades and now the #105. I also have a #307 three blade Stockman. I am hoping the #105 will be the perfect compromise between the #119 and #102.

I should have it by Friday and a band-aid on my finger by Saturday!:D

Thanks again,
BB

CJ Buck:

I did look at the store locator on your website. It lists the 4 Scheels stores in North Dakota, a Mills Fleet Farm and a Home of Economy. Missing are the Sportsman Warehouse in Fargo, Gander Mountain in Fargo.

If you are re-doing your web site you might think about adding the internet dealers? I probably wouldn't have made my recent purchase if I couldn't have gotten a discount off of regular retail and I am on vacation this week and wanted it delivered.

Another fun thing you might add to your web site would be some articles about how people have used their Bucks to save their lives or someone else's. I alway like to read adventrue stories if they are real. Or maybe the oldest Buck still in use state by state. Just some wild ideas!:D

IMO, it is the perfect compromise...though I hate to use that word to describe it. But like Goldilocks said, "this 105 is just right".

Post pics of knife and wound please...

Great ideas, but they'd need a website all their own. :D

Actually, they'd need a forum all their own --- this one! Start a couple of new threads asking those questions here, and I bet you get some great stories.

BigBelly, this thread has been around for awhile...and makes good reading.

There have been other threads about folks and their Buck knives...many are interesting and in this forum. A search would pull them up IF you have the right search words:rolleyes:  .

In BCCI newsletters there are stories related by Joe Houser, Chuck or CJ Buck or another member that are available to members on the club's site. There is a listing of back issues that you can go through...makes good reading:). Hope this helps. Preston

I was wandering around on the Buck website and found the Buck 805 Someone else mentioned it in another thread as having a mirror finish in S30V and I was drawn to it again. It's modeled after the 105, but with walnut slabs and S30V steel. NewGraham has them in stock. One less now that mine's ordered :) I don't see myself carrying it much, but it just screams steak-knife ;)

congrats on your purchase
but i think it would be a little large for a steak knife unless you were in camp
the discontinued 107 scout is the proper steak knife
and then there was the royalty line of steak knives sold in sets of four or six , i think they are all the same but some of the royalty line had some serrations
the buck collectors club diid a limited run of 150 of the 107 scouts this year with s30v and stag they are a beautiful knife

I like those '8" series...endorsed by the astronauts with the full tang ya know.
I missed out on a couple of 819 non-polished reg steel jobs on that auction site. As much as I like my 105 maybe I'd like the 805 better than the 819.
Who knows. The insanity has to stop.

As for life saving...my Buck 110NS BG-42 Golden Eye saved my life just today by cutting up some frozen Scrapple so I didn't starve to death.
