I have DU 102/501 combo set that's missing the 501. I know Buck made made many different DU knives, but this is the first combo I've seen. Anyone know how many different sets were made?

Tvran, If your meaning the model where the two are stacked into one sheath ? Then yes we have discussed this one . I remember Plumber having one and posted pictures of it .
But I don't know much more on that model . Perhaps JB . I think he chimmed on that discussion . Be patient while I fan the flames . DM

Yep, that's the one. It has a twin sheath with the 501 going in a pouch-style sheath on the front.

Here are a few pics of mine. I didn't notice the other thread mentioning it, but the reverse of the sheath is marked "102/501".

Looks as though I'm not going to have any easy time finding a DU replacement 501.

There were a lot of DU etched knives and I don't know if those were the ones that go with that sheath . I sort of doubt it, probably just the plain models . Thanks for posting the photos . I've always liked a twin sheath design . DM

tvr,

Your 102 is stamped with a dash so the blade was made in 92. However, the DU put out three knives in 93 called the "DU Super Raffle set" a 102, 501, 703. These all had Rosewood handles with a medallion in the handle, these should have DU electroetched on the blade. Now there was a USA set & a Canada ste of these. In addtion to over run knives avalible. Good luck on your hunt for the full set;)

Dave,

Buck has made so many S.O. knives for DU over the years who knows? By looking at the photo's and the time frame of the date stamp this set match's. The 102 & 501 go with the sheath and the 703 just went into your trousers. We can hope someone who knows for sure helps with more info.
