Saw this in the Blade annual guide. I've always been a big fan of the custom shop 110's, aftermarket customized 110's and the David Yellowhorse 110's. Never got into the regular 110. I really like this one, hope that Walmart picks up a few. Will definitely get one of these, and check it out.

Blade Annual Guide??

Where do I get a copy?

I would like one or two of those 110's myself.

I just picked up a maroon Ecolite 112 for $28 at my local gun shop. Nice knife for the money, and made in the USA! Can't say much for the nylon sheath though. Lucky for me he had Buck 112 leather sheaths for $10.00. Mine rides in one of those now.

Was that nylon sheath both vertical/horizontal carry?

You wont be disappointed. I have 2 of the plum collored and a plum 112. I've been carrying one 75% of the time for the last 4-5 months. I used it to dress 2 whitetails this year.

They are very stout and I wouldnt hesitate to use them on anything that I would use the standard 110 for. The paperstone gives good grip when wet and it is champher in the right places to make it fit very well in my hand.

I dont think it makes a great deal of difference, as they both work excellent, but there is a newer version. They had a bit of a lack of closing snap in the original models and correctect it by putting a washered pivot rivot in place(similar to 2nd version bucklites) and putting a washer between the liner and blade on both sides.

My original 110 eco never had an issue but my 112 did.

A real good cleaning an oiling corrected the issue and it never arose again.

As you can tell, I'm a big fan. I do need to get some green'uns though.

The Buck Ecolites, paperstone handles, went thru a pivot change.

The one pictured above is the old model.

The replacement, new, model has a pivot washer for smoother opening and closing action. You can clearly tell the new model because you can see the pivot washer, same color as the pivot metal, on the outside of the knife.

Thank you kindly imafritz who was a jump ahead of me.

I like mine a lot. If you want a lighter 110 it is really worth a look. Plus, as others have mentioned the grip is well designed also.

gee kinda looking likes a new fangeld buck lite to my old eyes
with that ring around the pin...
good knife all the same

I resisted buying them when they came out because I felt like they should have been given their own number and not be called 110's. :( Buck did that with all the other 110 offshoots that I know of, so I don't know why they didn't with this model. I agree with 110 Dave that they are more of a Bucklite and would have been a better fit with that line than with the 110.

They aren't bad, but I actually prefer the Bucklite Max 486 for a light weight lock back.

I like the 110 having a liner for added strength but I would like to have the thumbstud on the blade like the Max. I dont see why, if they can semi-serate a 110 blade to change the original design, they cant add a thumbstud. I have become so accustomed to them, its my one gripe(small as it is).

I tried a thumb stud on one and moved it around trying to find the sweet spot and never did. I was just too hard to open that way no matter where I put the stud. Could it be that's because it wasn't designed with one in mind? It seems to have a stronger spring than the 486 and I have no difficulty using the thumb stud on them.

Yeah, I havent tried it but it doesnt seem like there is enough room above the hollow grind to install an ez stud. There also isnt enough room between the handle and where the stud would need to be. A studded blade would have to either have an outcrop like the 112 buildout with the 450 blade on it(which doesnt do anything for me aesthetically, but I could llive with it) or have an impression cut like Eric at arksknives puts in when he reblades a 110 with a 486 blade.

That's just a stamp, it could have been any number. The 111, 186 and 460 all used the same blade and they all had different numbers. Still gets a:thumbdn:from me.
