Hi all,
I was wondering if I could get some recommendations for a Buck everyday carry knife? I'm looking at the Vantage Pro. Is it any good? I'm looking to not spend too much more than $100.
Thanks for the input!

It would depend on what the knife would be used for. For instance, I love the Vantage line, but never carry one because I have no need for anything that big (and it really isn't big). My favorite EDC is one or the other of several 301 Stockmen. They do everything I need a knife to do for the most part.

I have the small and large Vantage select. I really like their simple and strong construction. I would recommend them (and the pro version). Some come perfect; others may need tuning up before everything is as you like it. It's easy to do and all you need is a T6 screwdriver.

I'm also a big fan of the 300 series. They are traditional slip joints, but they are handsome and well made. The same can be said of the 500 series lockbacks. I'd look into the 110, 112, and 55 knives. If you are looking for more modern, one hand opening knives, I'd look into the Spitfire or the Vantage.

I just need something that'll do anything I need it to do. I always carry a knife but my collections getting old and made up of not the best quality. I personally like a good sized blade. The main reason I want a Buck is because there's a 40% off sale due to Memorial day, and I just want to get my money's worth. I've heard the S30V steel is pretty solid. That's what the Vantage Pro is made of.

I love my vantage pro. It's perfect for EDC(for me), ya it's a little bigger than some, but not too big and I really like the low ride pocket clip. The blade shape is perfect and the action is great on it. The blade is a little off center but it doesn't rub. But I have seen some pretty bad ones in the store, so if you can check them out first just make sure you get a good one! I'm sure you will be happy with it.

I think I'm gonna go for that. Apparently the S30V steel is worth the money and every negative thing that I've heard about the Pro doesn't bother me much. I guess the off center blade is an easy fix. Probably would be great for me.

Ya, sorry should have mentioned I made it off center! Wanted it looser, flicks open easily every time.
It does get little chips easily but they are easily taken care of and it takes a great edge.

Minor, seems like it was worse for the first bit but not so bad anymore. And they were very small and came right out on a stone. Now it stays sharp with a clean edge and I just use a strop mostly.
It's a good knife, not sure how much it will cost you where you are but I got mine in a good deal so I am very happy with it.

Vantage small for me. However, I'm currently giving a Spitfire a trial run. Great knife but may be a bit big for my EDC tastes.

I have the large Vantage Avid and really love the Sankvik 13C26 steel. It sharpens fairly easily, responds very well to a strop and holds it's edge well. Not as well as S30V, but not as hard to sharpen either. I've seen no chipping either.

I love my Buck Tan Vantage Force Pro. It's the perfect EDC for my son and I. We both carry it. You will not find a better $70 (S30V) folding knife on the market.

(Excuse the redundancy, I also posted this in the OP's thread in the GKF.)

The Vantage Pro is a great knife and I really like mine, But I like my Pro Vantage Force even better. Also S30V. All the advantages of the Vantage Pro, but better looks (IMHO), and smoother operation, or so it seems to me.

Both are great knives. Go with whichever one suits you best, but don't get confused by the designation. Make sure that whichever one you choose is a "pro". Among other things, that designates the S30V blade. The Avid is 13C26 Sandvik™ & the Select is 420HC.

I can't tell you enough how much I like my Pro Vantage Force. It is probably one of my two favorite flippers and my current favorite Buck.

Best of luck on your decision. Don't have a current pic of mine, but here is a stock picture (the handle colors & texture are very nice, the blue doesn't come out quite as well here as it really is):
