A year ago, I owned no Buck knives. Some Spydercos, Benchmades, CRKTS, etc... but no Bucks.
Then I bought a 119 Special to use as a camp knife. I was impressed by the fit and finish of this knife, and even though the steel is 425M, it took a decent edge.
So this year, I'm in Academy Sports and see a 100th Anniversary 110. I figure everybody needs a 110 and pick it up. The 420HC is even better than the 425M, and again, I'm very impressed with the fit, finish, and feel of this folder. It's a tank of a knife at a great price.
If only it had better steel....
So then I go looking for a 110 in 440C. After some eBay shopping, I end up with not just one, but two older "two dot" Buck 110s with the 440C. Man, this stuff really takes and keeps a nice edge.
If only I could do even better...
So now I've got my sights set on a Pete's Custom in BG42. I like the look of the stag bone scales and nickel bolsters. Still haven't decided on rivets and finger grooves. What do you think?
I think that, within six months, I've caught a bad case of Buck Fever.
