Been a reader of this forum for years but have never posted. Since you guys are the experts on Bucks I thought I would ask about a fillet knife I just bought on FeeBay. It is a 126V model. I have several 122s, 123s, 125s and 127s but as far as I recall I have never seen a 126, which lead me to buy this one. With all the fakes I got to thinking it maybe a fake. If not, were they just not popular or not that many? Also, did it have it's own sheath, since I did not get one with this knife. Thanks Tim

Thanks D-RIG for posting the picture. It is the one I bought but just didn't know how to insert the picture. Done bought over 200 dollars worth of bucks on feebay just since church a couple of hours ago. It is a sickness for sure:)

Well tparrott it's ok to play on the bay just don't get to carried away . Im not sure what sheath came with that knife there were two a plastic one or the leather one the leather being the more collectable I think , maybe someone will come along with a more definitive answer , either way it's a great knife .

Thanks but it's too late. I got carried away a few years back. one of the bucks I was able to pick off this afternoon was an old 121 scaler model, seems to have gone for a cheaper price than I paid for the others. I am figuring the poster mbjannusch will be weighing in at some point. He just sold an old 122 knife and if I recall from some time back, he collected fillet bucks.

Hey just got on the forum. Your fillet knife is a model 126 and is real. The model 126 was a model made for the Bass Pro Shop ( I think). I have a few of them. They were made from 1989 to 1992 and had a retail price of $49.20. I did sell a 122 but it was a pre factory model and isn't the same as the 122/124 Nemo/frontiersman. It was much smaller and meant for small game and birds. You're right, I love fillets and have so many I can't count. I'd rather not know. Great score.
It did come with a sheath, the sheath was brown leather. Let me see if I can dig up a picture.

No I was thinking of the 122 from BPS, I have a 126 and I believe it is an Alaskan Guide, S30V and came with a brown leather sheath with the AG logo.

My knife is the 126 made for Cabelas. I have never seen one with the 126 model # on the blade.

Thanks for the response and pictures. I do recall the newer 126 Alaskan guide but nothing from the 1980;s as far as a 126. seems if someone was going to make a fake they wouldn't go to the trouble of adding the V. So mine must be a fake?

The 'Mates' (Streammate, Lakemate and Oceanmate) Buck offered in 1985 with an old English script stamp on the right hand side. The handle was Karton with brown leather sheath. Models 123 a 4.5" blade, the 125 a 6.5" blade and the 127 a 9" blade. They were also offered with yellow handles and black leather sheath. I've not found the md. 126. DM

Thanks for the info David. I actually have one(or two, or three) of those with a spoon but don't recall the model number on it. Probably take days to dig it out from where ever it was I put it. Hopefully someone will come along in here and recall if this is a real short lived BUCK version or a fake.

Your welcome. I've checked the Buck catalogs I have up to 94 which I have most. Then mine jumps to 2003 and I've not seen a mod. 126. DM

Thanks for checking all those catalogs. Probably a trip down memory lane for you, seeing a lot of knives you wish you had bought:) Well I guess I either got a fairly rare bird or a fake. If no one else weighs in, is this something I should ask of Joe H. at some point, you think?

I know its not a fake. It could be that when Buck was finished with the AG's for Cabelas they used up the remaining parts and marked them like they would have marked the other, mate series at the time. The fillet knife Data sheet made by Joe Houser has the 126 on it and like I said, it ran from 1989 to 1992. Your knife is dated with the (V) the date code for 1989. The lake mate model 123 was the knife with the spoon, I have only one of those but I have a few Yellow and black 123s.

Thanks. Well, at least it is not a fake. probably not worth the 61 bucks I paid for it especially without a sheath. Hopefully I made up for it this afternoon with the Buck 121 oneliner scaler model I bought for $104.00. Odd that another one which looked like the one I bought went for $265 a few hours later. Either there is a difference I am not seeing or maybe because that seller added SCALER to the subject line.

Anyhow, I thank you guys for checking on the rogue 126. Need to find her a sheath now. Guess I need to rejoin the Buck Club. Getting late here in rainy Ga, about time to piss on the fire and call in the dogs:)

I picked up a 126v buck fillet knife at a show with bass pro on the blade and would like to know what the steel is

I picked op a buck 126V fillet knife with the bass pro logo on the blade. Do you know what the steel is?

That should be 425m steel. Did it come with a sheath? jw, welcome to the Buck Forum. DM

jw, this is a 6 year old topic... I'll answer this and no more, unless you start a new discussion.
Go ahead and use it. It may be worth 5-6 saw bucks without the box and papers. DM
