Has buck ever made a Fixed blade Selector knife???

If not, we need a new Buck knife or I do. A 119 or a 124 fixed blade Selector knife that has interchangeable blades like S30V, 440, Damascus and so on... They could make a lot of different blades for it... Like a saw, axe, clip, Drop point and so on... It could be like the old axe and knife set like the one Case and Western made years ago... But with a half Tang blade or more for more strength and less stress on the blade and handle..Just pull a lever and change the blade... I would even take a 102 or any other 100 series Buck fixed blade knife for a Selector knife... I think it would be a cool knife... But that's just me and what do I know... They can even make a 110 or a 112 Selector knife like there V-52 Selector one they made... Its the same size as a 110... I know Leroy makes them....

Just something to think about...

how is that again?
exchangeable "fixed" blade...
????????????????????????
that seems like an oxymoron..
like military intelligence ?

Somewhere in my collection I seem to have an older case knife which had various blades that could be used. I did have occasion to use the knife on a hunt, but did not have the need to change blades. The idea has some merit I suppose, but it is unlikely that Buck would venture off in that direction given that they are somewhat 'immunue' to customer suggestions for new designs etc. If they did offer such a thing, I'd be a interested enough to buy one if the price was right.

The lever idea is ok, but again, any design that features this type of locking mechanism will be mired in weakness when contrasted with a fixed blade such as the 119. The approach here, is sort of a 'swiss-army' concept and might work for some hunters out in the great wild, but I have my doubts as to the popularity of such a tool.

Here's some pictures of a case knife, something like mine but mine has a wood handle.

ITE,

nice items and nice pic's too. How strong is the mounting? Is it robust enough for the using with the axe blade?

Best,

I sure like the idea. I always carried the Selector on my hunts and thought it was pretty practical when weight was an issue.
Theres no doubt in my mind that Buck could make one, just as strong as the full tang modles too, if the demand was there.

Haebbie, I have a friend up in Spokane, Washington by Post Falls, Idaho who uses a Case set like this for cutting up deer and elk... He said it works Great... I love my set, just wish it had stag handles like this set...

And, ITE, it's a good idea!!

There would be the bowie (119), the skinner (103), the caper (116) and a saw. That would be enough.

Yes, ITE, I forgot the hatchet, that's true.

here's the complete list:

Anything else missing?
