Hey all,

In looking for a hunting knife I came upon a few pictures of a Buck Frontiersman and It looked like a great knife. I go to the Buck homepage and am not able to find it anywhere but in these special edition type knives. I nose around on Ebay and find good ones sell for over $150!!

So the question I have is why isn't Buck making this knife as part of their regular production lineup? They all the other knifes in that style in their line so it couldn't be that hard to add the Frontiersman to it.

Anyone know an answer? Why do they command the prices they do? It has to be more than people just wanting a Buck Frontiersman. Were they THAT GOOD when they were made?

Thanks for the time.

I apparently became a slow seller and was discontinued. Fans keep the price up because they have collector value above the utility value of the knife.

Lots of older knives no longer in production have been reintroduced by some makers when the demand gets high enough - but most do not. The costs of production usually outweigh the profit point for the market, unless a very low cost source becomes available. The far East seems to be the major source for reintroductions right now, which can help, if the market was ever there to begin with.
