Is this still in full production? Unless I missed it, all I saw on the Buck page was sheaths for it, no knife.

If it is gone does anyone have insight into why?

Still think I "need" a Gen 5. However, after getting a 113 that I wanted for a long time to only find out it was too small for my hand I need to handle one first.

Kicking this back up, seems they are gone but couldn't find a solid answer on it.

Got one, oddly enough from the NRA since they were blowing out ones they had made for their Nashville conference, guitar edition with the inlays. Pretty but small for my hand. Logo on the blade I need to see about buffing out but I may just let it be till I know what I'm going to do with it.

Does seem well designed, not sure why it didn't seem to last long except it may be too close to the 113 to be competitive.

I have a gen 5 and also have big hands, the 113 does not fit my hand, too small.the gen 5 is about the same size but the handle fits me better.its a decent knife I love it but I'm pretty much using ag guide knives exclusively for my hunters, unless I take my old 440c skinner or d2 personal.

Not a current knife in the catalog but Buck just ran a batch of 125 limited edition Gen5's for the 2015 NRA annual meeting in Nashville.

DeSoto,
Yes that is the one I got. Pretty knife! Could do without the blade logo on it but I opted to display the other side so it bothers me less :-)

Yep De,

After I saw your photo's of that Knife just had to have one. I have the 2008 LE version with Abolone dots and mirror polished blade. I like the Nashville version with the non-polished blade and the MOP dots better. Thanks for the heads up on this one De, by the time I made up my mind the discounted price had dropped another $25

I have a small sub collection of gen5's. Still wanting the original Abalone version like yours and the Majestic Elk. There is another NRA version now that I think of it, NRA cutout on the blade as I recall. I'm the opposite, I like your version better. Personally not a fan of signed blades though. The family name on the tang stamp is enough for me. Most variations of the Gen5 are readily available but frequently at a price beyond what I feel their intrinsic value is.... I'll find a deal on the ones I'm needing someday.

I'm right there with you. I've been looking for the standard gray handle version from the day I found out they dropped these. When it was in the catalog it could be had for $50, now when I see them they are 2X to 3X that. I just can't pay that much, like you I'll find one some day. When I do it will be my first re-scale project. I want a gen5 & 113 set with NK bolsters and Black Walnut scales, I have the wood and the 113 already.
