I found what I believe is a Buck 120 General at a local pawn shop but I am not sure what to think of it. It is a very long fixed blade. The sheath is black with the single narrow strap the secures the handle. The knife looks like new but the sheath appears to be much older. The only stamp is a simple BUCK. No numbers or other marks. They are asking $49.00. What do you think? Is it worth the risk? Are there copies of these knives on the market? Thanks in advance!

No USA stamp. Just BUCK.

I thought that buck put usa on the blade but im not 100% sure about that knife, especially if it could be an older one. Sorry i cant really help but i know some other knowledgeable guys on here definitely will. If there is anyway you could get a picture of it that would probably help.

Thanks. I know a pix would be helpful and I hate to spend 50 clams on an imitation. Hopefully I get an answer before it sells. I AM tempted!

Does the Stamp on the blade just have Buck stamped to where the blade points down, and handle on top, to read correctly? If so it is one of the early made one. Later they added 120 under Buck, then in 1964 they added USA. The later made ones the knife had to be blade pointed up to read correctly. You might go to the Buck site here on the forums, and get more info. Hope this helps some.

I agree with Bucksforus - if it doesn't have the model number "120" or the "USA" stamp on the blade it is either a very early model or a knockoff.

I bought it for $30.00. I will post a pix or two later today. I have a feeling that I scored big time.

I have the same feeling. Take some good pictures, especially of the tang stamp(s), and post them in the Buck forum area when you get a chance.

It looks legit, but it's pretty hard to tell from that strange angle. Try a straight-on shot, and another showing a closeup of the tang stamp and guard. Don't use the flash either, or it'll just reflect back into the camera lens off of the shiny metal.
