Hey guys my first post here in buck forums so hows it goin?

Anyway, growing up my dad always carried a buck general on our camping trips, and attested frequently to its quality. I would really like to have one just like that, but in a better steel. Was/is one available anywhere?

Anyone know what the original steel was? I'd say he probably purchased it sometime in the 80's.

It is availiable only at cabelas. It doesnt come in any different steel but if you get it at cableas you get free lifetime sharpening from buck.

Welcome to the Buck Forum!!!
They were made with 440C, then 425M, and now 420HC steel. I do not have the exact dates handy here, but a 1980's model should have been 440C I believe?
Anyway, they are available online yet and lots of them on online auctions.
Also Cabelas has the Pro line etched version with lifetime free sharpening as ace has mentioned.
Good luck!!

there have been a few made in D2 and DM
but they were jest a few as a lets see thing

DreamHawk...
Welcome to our watering hole.

I have a 120 Pro-Line and a 120BR. Also a pre-86 120 from a forum Chickadee.
They're fun. Like little swords.

Your profile doesn't permit e-mail, so click on mine and send me a msg. I will send you a link where you Buy Knives Online.
They are out of stock on the 120BR but it seems like you can get a 120 phenolic. Would look the same as the Pro-Line but no billboard etching and no free lifetime sharpening.

Thanks a lot for the responses guys! Ill edit my profile buck and send you an email

Thanks a ton!

Well...my beagle was helping choose my favorite 120 today.
Actually, I was getting them out to take a pic with the newest member of their clan.

The top one is the new one. 2007 silver rosewood.
Just came in today.
When I opened it up, I had to change my jeans.
I had always preferred brass with wood on my fixed...until now.

Shadows were getting long. Will take a better pic tomorrow.
110 shown for scale (there are some that have never seen a 120 before...including me until you clowns hooked me up ;))

Anyone know why the tang stamp in the Pro Line in post 7 of this thread is on a diff side than all the others? Just curious.

Jeff...no matter where I go in the room, I still think that critter is watching me.

Dave...if I knew that "knife holder", I'd probably never leave the house
