Has anyone gotten to handle one of these :http://newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=5165 ? It looks like a nifty Buck/Strider collab, but it's made in China, so I'm wondering if anyone had a chance to handle one at SHOT or any other venue. Any experiences, good or bad? Thanks.

Best wishes,

Looks a bit "corner"-ey, if you get my meaning. A lot of corners can make a knife literally a pain to carry.

It also has that "Strider" handle. Not too hip on that profile for use.

So, a no from me, anyway.

It does look rather "corner-ey". Sharp edges can be painful in a handle. Looks like the first Buck/Strider collab with a tigerstripe blade finish, too. To bad it is made in China. I never thought I'd see a Buck/Strider collaboration piece made in China. However, last year, Buck did introduce a couple Mayo collaborations made in China (Hilo & Cutback).

Best wishes,

That is not a bad knife at all for the money, no ref to Strider on it, you can see the influence in it's design though. Buck has several new cheap end knives out this year that are not bad for the money. Key words here "for the money".

Hmmm... I just checked that model on the Buck site, and likewise, there's no mention of Strider. I wonder what Mick Strider has to say about that?

I know there are a lot of Buck fans here, but selling cheap Chinese-made copies of someone else's distinctive designs is the sort of thing Frost, Taylor and Gerber catch hell for. I sure hope Buck hasn't sunk that low.

I think it looks kinda cool even if it is "corner-ey" I just hope all is well and cool with strider on this I like buck knives and have owned the Tarani, hopefully they dont take the low road.

Just because it doesn't have the name on it don't mean they took the low road, see many knives done like that.

If I was ever the luckest person alive and landed a job (I don't think I could call it a job) at NGK, I would probally soil my underwear being able to handle all the knives! I would also end-up paying THEM to work there! LOL!

True, but since Buck has made a point of trumpeting Strider's involvement on their prior collaborations, it does seem odd.

Of course, it could still be a Strider design, but Mick doesn't want his name on a Chinese-made knife. That's why I'd like to hear from Mick about it.

I work for steel :)

I almost bought one of these the other day but changed my mind at the last minute. I'm sure it would be a great quality knife but I just didn't need another 420HC knife right now.

I'd be really surprised! That has the basic Strider folder type handle shape, the Strider type blade shape, the Strider type clip, and the Strider type blade finish.

Best wishes,

I am getting one as soon as they have them back in stock at New Grahams. I just wrote them the other day and the reply was they are on the road to them now.. ... I really like the price and the looks are killer even if it just used as a spare carry, very cool looking imo..

Let me know how this knife performs, if you don't mind, after you get yours. Thanks.

Best wishes,

P.S. Is NGK the only place that is selling that model? I couldn't even find info on it on Buck's site.

but the made in china thing turns me off. I recently picked up a buck 889 and I really like it. As far as the handle shape I find it very comfortable and with the choil design easy to choke up on for fine work. To me it's one of those designs that looks horrible but feels really good in use. for what it's worth ,ahgar

No problem as soon as I get one I will put up a review with pics and such .. I am really trying to keep an open mind about the "Made in China" thing myself.. But the dang thing looks too cool to pass up.. ;)

And so far they are the only ones I can find listing the knife.. wish they would get em back in stock ..
