Hello, first time poster here.

I was wondering if anyone had experience with the Buck Graduate knife. Have you all found it a good, reliable knife?

(I am considering this knife because it has a wood handle, which I really like, as well as a fairly useful shape. Additionally, it is composed of the same 440HC steel the famous Buck 110 knife is, which should be more than enough for the light to moderate tasks i would do. Additionally, it costs about $30.00 USD, which is around my ideal pricepoint.)

Welcome. And remember you get what you pay for. But I will say that if your price point is around 30$ or so Buck is one of the very very best brands for that. For the price, Buck knives usually have an extremely good lock up. Not the case on many many knives at that range. Good luck and I'm sure the knife will give you everything you need

Buck uses 420hc , but this life is produced overseas so the steel may not be the exact same steel.
I have herd a few complaints and have seen no proof that the Chinese factory actually heat treats the steel exactly like Buck does themselves using the famous Tony Bose heat treat.
Personally I would buy an American made Buck knife that I know will 100% come with Buck's great treated Steel and forever warranty.
If you want some opinions on how this particular knife you should've probably posted this in the Buck section.

My bad on that, I'll do that next time.

Welcome to the forums Jan. I have not handled the knife you are asking about but i do hear resonably good things about Bucks importated knives. Also Buck has an excellent warranty so if you have problems with it you should be covered.
Im not sure what your knife needs are but ill still make a couple of affordable recomindations. For a basic edc a Victorinox Tinker is hard to beat. Also Opinels, while a little old fashioned, are solid affordable users. Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

The Vic tinker is definitely great as well is the recruit for 20$ and 15$ respectively.
Buck also has a US made wood handled model or two in the 30$ Range.

Welcome to BF Jan. The Buck has a 2.3" blade. Do you need to stay under 3" for legal reasons? Wood handles a must?

I'll throw a few suggestions out there based on a sub 3" blade and $30 budget.
Ontario Rat 2, Buck Vantage Select (made in the USA if that is important to you), Kershaw Shuffle or Amplitude.

It's a fine knife, just like the rest of Buck's imported line. Won't be even half as nice as the knives they make in the states though. F&F issues etc. Check out the Buck 500 series, nicer knives, similar price, and made in the U.S.

Don't you mean Paul Bos? Tony Bose is a custom knife maker who also designs for Case.

Welcome Jan. You cant go wrong with Buck.
