Good day all
Was walking through the local gun show yesterday, looking for knives as I usuallly do. I came across this buck 619 on this guys table. He had a $5.00 price sticker on it. I snatched it up, flipped him a five and disapepared into the crowd before he could change his mind.
I read some previous posts here and learned that they were produced in the mid 80's, and that there were about 4500 of these (black handle) ones produced. Kinda surprised that they didn't sell well.
This one is in excellent condition, it does not appear to have been used, sharpened or carried. The sheath has some small stains, but for a 25 year old knife, I'm very suprized by its condition. I bought it to keep on my boat, but now I am wondering it I shouldn't just set it aside.
The tang stamp reads:
Buck
619V
U.S.A.
Can anyone tell me what the "V" stands for, and what one of these might sell for today, yea, I kinda figure I got a good deal at $5.00.
Thanks in advance for any input.
