Buck Hartdsook, opinions?

Great little light/medium duty knife.:thumbup:

I have the Smidgeon, non-coated 420HC steel.

Carry it on my key chain.

where ddi you get that carabiner -bottle opener on it??

also would like more thoughts on the Hartsook. Im tempted to get one but Im not sure how a 2-inch blade would work.
 
It comes with the Smidgeon. Not sure if the s30v Hartsook comes with one or not.
 
I have one which I keep clipped to the outside of my tackle box. Also used it recently clipped to my pj's while at home recovering from surgery, primarily to open mail etc.
 
I have one. I don't know about it being a neck knife but it makes a hell of a key chain knife. I had a guy mold some kydex for me to replace the factory sheath because retention was atrocious. Although the knife looks diminutive it is a fantastic utility knife and I find myself reaching for it 9 times out of 10 for daily knife chores. I have been carrying and using it for two years now and I constantly marvel at how useful of a knife it is especially considering all the criticism it received when it was released.

No. The sheath with the s30v version is terrible. Word on the street is that a new version of the sheath came out with later production runs, but I can't get word one way or the other from Buck.

I've had mine since they first came out and it's been a great little knife. It's thin and kinda hard to hold on to, so I tied a lanyard just to get a little extra hold. After a few weeks I stripped the black coating because I can't stand coated blades and s30v has no need for a coating to begin with. At some point I'm going to make some exotic wood or G-10 handle scales for it. Handle scales would make it much easier to handle.

It's a great little knife. Unless the price has changed, you can't go wrong with S30V for less than $30.
 
I got a Smidgen awhile ago as an impulse buy, and am pleasantly surprised at how handy it is. It has become a regular edc clipped to my belt loop.
 
Its small. No ...really small. I love mine (improved sheath, much better) but its small. Did I say it was small?

My sentiments exactly. Was expecting small when I ordered one, but not THAT small. :D (good little knife, though)
