Many collectors are standing by, waiting for a pic or two, to help you...start with a pic of the blade tang, showing the markings. Then an overall pic. Next a pic of any complicated assembly parts, such as spacers in the grip, or pins in the grip scales. Pics of both sides helps. If you don't have a digital camera, use your scanner; if the knife won't fit in one scan, use two or more.

If you don't have a scanner, your local library should. Just carry the knife in, wave it around a little, and you should have exclusive use of the scanner for, oh, at least five or six minutes... :D

My best friend in grade school was from Alabama...Bucky Scott; he had a beautiful little sister...she'd be 50-something now...I wonder if she's still a looker???

I was thinking it could be a 903 bowie but they are only 15 inches long. The 5pounds was me scratching my head. Sounds kinda heavy. I hope you can figure out a way to get a picture posted or send one to me.
That knife can be so many things, we really need more info if you can provide it. What is the blade stamp?

...Does it look like it was ground out of an old file??? :D Does the brass guard wrap around the knuckle area???

...Ooh... ;)

Does it look like one of these? Buck D-Guard 16 1/8 " overall,2 1/2 " blade width 7/32 " blade thickness
Buck 903 15 3/16" overall blade length 10 1/8 " ,1 7/8 " blade width, 7/32" thick
Buck Mountain Man 12 1/2 OAL, 2 1/8" blade width,7 3/16" blade length 7/32" thick
