Buck Hilo/Cutback

don't bother.

They used to be BOSS treated 440C. I was so happy with my cutback I went back to buy
another, and they had changed the steel in less than a week.

Now there 420hc.

I bought one earlier this year from Big5 for under $20 , I hated it at first !

The edge was far too thick , the finish was drab , it was destined to be relegated to the bottom of my sock drawer...

Then one night I got bored so I thinned the edge , actually took about three nights , once the edge was thinner I found it cut much nicer , I also gave it more of a point , I like to be able to pierce if necessary.
I filed just a hair off of the lock so the lock engaged more and bent it just a bit so it bites more when engaged.
I camo striped the handle with Oxy Clean and rubber bands so it looks nicer , and now it is in my EDC rotation.

Pros ? cheap , solid , no blade play , good luckup.
Cons ? if you can get past the fact that it is made in China , that would be the only con I can think of.

All in all I would say it is now a good beater knife that I carry once every two weeks.

Thanks guys! I'm looking for a cheapy to beat on.

I found a dealer that has it in 440C, so these ones are treated by Paul Bos?
