I recently purchased a Buck Hitchhiker SC, the one with the scissors, and today they broke:( I wasn't expecting this from something made by buck, and I was wondering if it was covered by the warranty:( The spring that allows the scissors to pop back after being completely closed to start another cycle of cutting broke off. I am quite disappointed…:(

I've had them on SAK's break...
As good as they can make them, spring steel is always most vulnerable to slipping by QC and/or susceptable to excessive wear. The quality deficiencies pretty much only show up after use.

So do you think Buck will fix it for me? Or would a spring from a Swiss knife work? I think Victorinox sells the separately...

Send an email to Joe Houser (Moderator of this Forum) at Buck! There is no doubt in my mind that Buck will take care of the problem for you. Buck's Customer Service means 100% satisfaction and Joe is their point man as Director of Consumer Relations.

Yes we will fix it. Those are kind of collectable as we do not make those anymore and did not distribute all that many.

I sent the thread to Joe.

Hello,
Yes, send the knife in, to my attention. We currently have about a 2 week turnaround and if you send it to me, I can put it at the front of the line!
Take care,
