Buck Hoodlum Blade Notch

The reason I don't like the notch is removal of mass in a critical point. It's a small amount, true, but I'd rather it weren't there. :)

Thanks for proving my point.

I didn't say anything about it being poorly engineered or weakening the blade or anything. Just that I don't care for it as a design feature. It's not a criticism of the knife, but rather a description of my preferences. I do NOT think that Ron, TOPS and Buck would produce a knife with a known flaw, and think that it's a decent knife--just one that runs counter to the features I prefer in a large knife. Another thing that I dislike about it (which isn't a design flaw) is how narrow the blade is. I generally like broad blades on big knives. And while I haven't been able to get out in the woods as often as I'd like recently, I'm far from a "keyboard engineer." Not liking something doesn't make you a hater. ;)

Also, I'm not sure if you're intending it at all, but your above response came off as somewhat rude. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

This test would have been a little more convincing if the fixture were fastened to a machine base and not some kind of a springboard so the 12,000lb force were entirely absorbed by the blade spine and not distributed through the entire bench.
