Hey guys, i have a couple of knives that i would like some info on. One is a Buck Icman and the other a Buck Omni 12 folding hunter. Are they good knives. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

A Buck is a Buck....they're all good tools. I don't know what steel these are, but generally Bucks are easy to field sharpen, and do a good job on game. As for design....that's a personal thing. I don't like serrated blades for the work I do, and I prefer a folder for most applications. Fixed blades are great for heavy work. I have both, but EDC a folder.

According to the Buck website, both have blades of 420HCand both are made in China. I have neither, but I do have another Chinese made Buck, the "Colleague". I found my "Colleague" to have good fit and finish, a solid lockup, good edge retension for the steel that they used (440A). I have read other threads about Chinese made Bucks and most of them are complementary on the fit & finish and overall quality. Most seem to feel that the price is more than reasonable for what you get. I certainly do.

Thanks guys. I checked the website and the Buck Omni Hunter is made in America and the Icman is made in China. I know that Bear Grylls used the Icman in a couple of his shows. Well that is what i heard. I like the Omni Hunter, it seems like a solid knife. I dont know why it is not very popular. Its solid. Now the Iceman is good and solid but its to heavy to carry everyday to me.

I stand corrected. The table that I first pulled up did not show it being US made (most of their overview tables do) and when I looked at the detail page I was no longer looking for country of origin.
