Buck info

Everyone is likely thinking I will reply with a complete history of the 303. But nope. Here is my reply.

Get one, I like the yellow smooth scale version, a knife a farm guy would carry and use.

Well, I can only be brief so long, go to the Buck forum and do a search on the Buck 303. You will know a lot if you read just every other thread......

YES. By all means get one.
It's great bang for the buck, you should pardon the expression.

I'm not sure it's a good idea. I heard once about one guy who got one and used it hard. It dern near wore out after just 30 years! ;)

I can't speak for the 303's because I spent all my money on 301's. :D
Buck makes a great workhorse of a stockman. It'll start every morning and work all day without stalling or over heating and you can even forget to check the oil and won't seize.

I never appreciated Buck knives until I tried one.
Even steel snobs find it hard to knock Buck's 420.
My only suggestion is handle it before you buy it. I handled a lot of 303's before finding one that did not have a proud, sharp center pin on the handle.

AH HA, Now you are getting down to the real N _ _ Cutting ( farm term used in association with spey blade when things are finally serious.)

So you want a flat grind, well you can't gripe, learn Ebay if you haven't and look for the 303's made in the late 80's with BUCK shields instead of the Knife,Bolt and Hammer shields. These will also be 425M metal, a good steel. Problem solved.

Well now I really like the Spey blade shape on tha 301. I'm not that picky but ain't on all saber ground blades ain't the blades usually thicker? I bought tha large stockman the4 1/4 a few years ago for my cousin. He's tha old type farmer who carries big stockman. Anyway tha grinds was different on it.
