buck NIB
intrepid w/chise
mod 0189-CP-0
cat. 2748
and i need to know any thing you all can
tell me as on this as i know nothing!!!
it has no date code or a mod number on it
wandering if it is a proto type
it is over 12 in long and heavy!! and sharp as heck typ of buck
i need to know this stuff before i go to list it...
soon as OUR BUCK trade forum gets started
(when ever that is.... :jerkit: )

i will be sheading it as i have been getting rid of all my fixed blade knives to do the 110's (as you all know) any way any info will be welcome!!!
thanks
dave

I dont know much about it but I will watch for it in the trade section, I want one for in the boat! (just in case I fall out and need a dive knife :D )

I own one with the Tanto tip... it's a honkin' knife for sure. What do you want to know about it. It should have a date code BTW but if I remember right it may have been in an odd place. I haven't even picked mine up in some time... I'll look and see if mine does...

I stand corrected, the only visible marking I can see on mine is BUCK on the left side of the blade with U.S.A. under it in even smaller letters.

yep is what i see also...
and it is a massave knife almost a MOFO... for in the water ....

yes some of the informaton i am looking for is like how many were made and esp the year made!
buck trade section is still undregoing de-vel-o-ment
and that is not peps-o-dent either...
wish they could give us a clue evven if it might be changed later so we know some thing is happening!!!!!!!
i may do reg trade, let me think on it...still want info first tho...

I can't help you, but you should check out mine that's been customized in the "Workshop" section of the forum. Do a search for me there. It's cool.

.

Just was rummaging around my knife collections and found a LARGE INTREPID, and another one about 1/2 the size if the big one. The both are marked Buck U.S.A.
These are not NIB but they don't look like they have been used very much.

These are Intrepids arn't they?

Ciao 4now
Ron

yes muzzleup they are!
and a nice matched set~
they have the tanto style
the one i have is the blunt style
still sharp on the end but much less prone to point breakage
in real diveing use....
i used to dive and did break points off on pointy
ones prying at things...
giveing up mine as doc says no diveing unless i loose a lot of weight

Just a quick note, at last year's (2005) Buck factory sale in post Falls Buck was selling off the stock of large tanto point Intrepids NIB for $39 ea. At this years sale they did'nt have any for sale. I dont know if this affected the collector price any but they did kind of the same thing with the 888 Solutions and I have seen them being offered on E-bay and AR15.com at discounted prices.

well at that rate i loose a lot ....
and as i said the point ones are subject to breakage and
it appears the blunt ones may be a much lower production number...
as a diver this non point one is a better working dive knife!
i bought as i wanted to take up diveing again in fla
but my doc wont pass me for a physical to re-certifity unless
i loose a lot of weight because of the heart attacks

oh back to subject
buck also sold off the 560
at 35 bucks each and that was jest before the move to id
they are over 110 bucks NIB now.
now even joe will buy the right one at that for a project he may be working on..
so if any one wanted one to use or to fill out a set of milltary knives by buck
now is the time before they go to like the others have way way over 200!!!

fulloflead thanks for posting the links i had tried searching for it and had no luck
i think that your knife turned out pretty good and the rest of your toys in the pic are pretty sweet as well
