Can someone give me their general impressions of this knife? I'm interested in the brass version with the rosewood scales.

Also how is the liner- lock?

Thanks for your help....

I love both my fb 408 and the folder 419. I am not fond of liner locks, but this one is well designed, strong, and sure. I 'EDC'-ed it - in it's sheath - in my pocket. Big knife, be careful where you present it. It is sharp as can be as delivered - and mine is still sharp. Previous experience has shown that S30V is not as easily re-edged on my Sharpmaker as 420HC, so I dread the day that happens. My Spydie S30V Native has 'enjoyed' 30 minutes on the Sharpmaker thus far - and it is still not back to it's original razor-sharpness. Perhaps a periodic touch up would have helped it - and may help the K-Ps.

One thing... many have reported micro-chipping on some S30V blade edges. Not seen on my AG110 so bladed - and not on the K-Ps, for sure! Great heat-treating is the answer. I checked all of my S30V edges with my photo 8X loupe regularly - the Spydie Native's S30V finally showed dulling - it was quite hot when I cut down some huge cardboard boxes.

You'll like that #419. Let us know how much!

A very high quality production knife.

Really nicely made.

Looks even better in person than in pictures.

Liner lock is plenty sturdy, thicker than the Alpha Hunter (for example).

I think it's a winner all the way.
Definitely not for pocket carry, though, unless you've got very big pockets. It's a big knife, as Stainz posted.

Thanks guys...

I think I'm going to get one, I have an Alpha Hunter and like it a lot, but I was hoping the liner was a tad thicker and you confirmed that it is. Thanks again

You will love the Kalinga! I like it better than the alpha as well. Shes a beautiful well built knife. No problems with the liner lock either. :) Enjoy!
