I have a Kalinga with black micarta(?)handles.According to The Story of Buck knives there should a mark to show what year it was made. There is no mark. It is in a hard box with sheath in top of box with original papers.Does anyone know the value of this as I am going to post it for sale. Thanks for your help.

I have seen purchase price in e-stores of about $90 and on auctions of $150 and up. Any picture on that? I dont think that I have ever seen one.

No pictures.I found out that knife was made prior to 1986 before markings were put on blade.
Thanks,
John

The micarta handled Kalingas were, mostly, made in the 70's. I don't know when they switched to the wood handles. Your little booklet should have an address on it for the Buck factory. Buck moved into their current location in late 1980 so if the address is on Magnolia street then you know the knife was made prior to that.

I have one in the shop that I've been asking $250.00 for. I've had it a long time so that is probably too much, but then, I'm not particularly in a hurry to sell it.

There are lots of Kalingas out there. I think they made around 60,000 of them before they finally discontinued them in '99.
