I have a buck knife 619, it came with a black leather sheath with buck etcher on front and 119 on the back side There is a backward slash after the 619 Any info on this would be appreciated.

Incorrect sheath.
The 619 is basically a 119 blade with a rubber handle and came in a nylon sheath.

David Nowlin David Nowlin The first time I saw one of those sheaths years ago I thought it was a junk sheath and it was destined for the bin. It was only searching for what the correct sheath should be that I learned differently. Hard to beleive it is an actual Buck sheath. If the rubber handle was black the sheath was black. The Olive Drab handles came with a Camo sheath (619 & 639). (edited to correct typo no one called me on)

yep.

it kinda makes sense though as weren't these made to be more budget version knives not the premium top end knives Buck made as we treat them today....

I didn’t know that model existed. I rather like it. Course I like those big green rubber handled schrades they had back in the 90s too.

I have a 119 with the Idaho tang stamp. It came with a nylon sheath with a hard insert. Definitely not junk. In terms of functionality, it's actually better than the much more common leather sheaths.

your 119 has the 619 nylon sheath? or the 119 nylon you can still get....

if the one above...I have a bunch of those. they arent bad...good for wet weather and such.....

It's the one shown above. I use my 119. Field dressing deer gets the sheath a little funky. Cleaning knife and sheath in a sink full of hot soapy water and a good hot water rinse gets them both like new.

yep those are great and useful for dirty workin...agree

The first hunting knife I ever bought for myself was a 619.

First deer I shot, I broke it out and my cousin mocked me about it. "It's already dead, what are you going to use that for?"

For deer, a 110 or 118 is all I've used since. That was the first and last deer that 619 was used on.

I dont pack it any more. I keep a 118 in my pack and my S90V 110 on my belt.

Nothing against the 119, but it's not a useful pattern for me.

👍 for nylon sheaths.
I like the 685 for it's simple design, and that nylon sheath.
Easy storage and cleanup.

I wasn't aware there was a nylon sheath available for the 119.
I like the 119, but I think there are better choices for a knife that size.
I still may grab one of those sheaths, as I can see the utility of it.

I'd be interested in similar sheaths for other knives.
I agree it's easier to clean those nylon sheaths over a leather one when hunting.
Probably more sanitary too.
